I have always been an intuitive artist….
It has taken me many years of being an artist to accept that I enjoy working in different media and art forms. There was a time I was primarily doing plein air pastel painting, a time I was making silver jewelry, and a time that I was loving doing sculptures in clay or stone.
I have also accepted that I am an artist who doesn’t work in series. However...
When I look back over past work next to my current work, I can see that there are certain forms that tend to reappear. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to me. Color plays an important role, and my love of the ocean. Forms found in nature find their way into my paintings. Folks that follow my work have often said that they can immediately recognize my work in a group show. Perhaps it's the repeated forms or perhaps my use of color.
The constant for me is that I feel so fortunate to have art be such an important part of my life.
