Each time I set out to confront the white blizzard of a canvas I am trying to find Shangri-La, the palace on the rocky cliffs of the bronze island where King Aeolus lives surrounded by mist, the holy grail, the realm of pure gold, and the confrontation between the intimate and the infinite. So I place down a color, each one resonant with emotion, and then create, in the vector of the linear rhythm that is juxtaposed with the feeling of gravity, a kind of scaffolding or tone poem.
The midnight series was inspired by a dark studio; with references to the night sky, the cosmos, the idea of mortality and the journey through life. My aim, always, is to fabricate a mysterious presence, almost living and breathing, which is leaning into beauty.
