The encaustic paintings in this exhibit celebrate the changing moods of a garden under diverse circumstances. Titles of the pieces include "Evening," "After The Rain," and "Fallow." These abstract responses are often captured fleetingly out of the corner of my eye. I am inspired by nature and the process of caring for a garden which I feel is similar to creating a painting. Both require tenderness and courage where some elements survive, some not, things are mysteriously moved around, and sometimes dug up for a fresh start. I am also enchanted with garden walls, particularly ancient ones. I feel they are witnesses to history and hold secrets. In my wall pieces I strive to evoke a sense of mystery through layers of collage and mixed media.
